CHAPTER ELEVEN
âYOU COMPLETE MEâ
The wheels on Bradâs Maserati had barely come to a stop when he jumped out and raced into Summerâs primary doctorâs office. In the middle of surgery when he received the call, he wasted no time getting there. Luckily the procedure was a minor one and his assistant took over in his absence. After entering the office, a young nurse was there waiting for him.
âIâm here for my wife,â he said
âYes Mr. Johnson, the doctorâs expecting you. Come with me.â
âIs she okay...Is everything okay with my wife?â he nervously asked both questions.
âThe doctor will explain everything. Now, please follow me sir,â the nurse repeated without looking back. She led the way to a small waiting area where Brad found Summer sitting with another young woman. They seemed to be engaged in conversation where both ladies were smiling.
âWhat the hell is going on?â he asked himself. âI get an emergency call concerning my wife and damn near killed myself getting here only to find her sitting comfortably talking to another woman,â he continued thinking.
âSummer,â he called out to her.
She turned to him and immediately responded.
âOh Brad, youâre here!â Suddenly, she was weeping.
He rushed to her side and gathered her in his arms.
âSummer, please tell me what the hell is going on?â
Still, she gave no answer. Only more weeping.
Frustrated now, Brad turned his attention to the doctor standing to his left.
âWhat the hell is going on with my wife, Doc?â
âMr. Johnson I canâ¦â
Before he could finish, Summer grabbed Brad by his shoulder and spun him back around to face her.
âIf you insist on asking the doctor what's going on, why donât you ask him?â
âI just did, Summer.â
âNo honey, Not that doctor. This one...â
âJonathan, come here sweetie,â Summer said to the couple's youngest boy. Reluctantly the child came over to her. Summer kissed him on the cheek and asked the child softly,
âTell him what's inside of here,â she said pointing at her tummy. Jonathanâs face brightened, and he immediately began to rub Summerâs stomach.
âBa...Ba...Babies...Babies.â
When Summer looked back at Brad, tears flowed down her cheeks like rivers.
âBrad Johnson, welcome to the world of fatherhood again. You are now the proud father of three.â
âThree?â he found himself having to force the word out.
Summer nodded her head, then said, âIâm pregnant with twins love,â Summer said through tears. Brad was speechless. He crumpled to his knees, overwhelmed with
joy. Summer met him there and she cried in his arms until the tears would no longer come. Finally, the makings of a lifelong dream were about to come true in the form of two additional bundles of joy. A dream destined by two people who chose to live their lives as one by any means necessary.
